The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international association of public utility which is engaged in a sustainable exploitation of the forests.

The FSC is supported by all big environmental protection organisations as well as by socially committed and forestry organisations.

The FSC is independent and not of a commercial nature.

The primary goal of the FSC is to support socially, ecologically and economically responsible forestry and to make products which originate from certificated woodlands instantly recognisable by providing them with a corresponding label.

The FSC logo enables the consumer or the general public to identify the wood and the derived products offering a maximum of credibility.

The FSC has developed a chain system which facilitates the tracking of the entire production route, right from the management of the forest, all the interim stops and possible reprocessing of the wood, all the way through to the end customer. The end product is given the FSC logo when the production chain has been checked by an independent organisation who is accredited by the FSC.
